Human TGF alpha recombinant protein (Active) (His-tagged, C-ter)

Human TGF alpha recombinant protein (Active) (His-tagged, C-ter) for SDS-PAGE

Overview

Product Description E. coli expressed, His-tagged (C-ter) Active Human TGF alpha recombinant protein
Tested Application SDS-PAGE
Target Name TGF alpha
Species Human
A.A. Sequence Trp40 - Ala89
Expression System E. coli
Activity Active
Activity Note Determined by its ability to induce 3T3 cells proliferation. The ED50 for this effect is <0.2 ng/mL. The specific activity of recombinant human TGF alpha is > 5 x 10^6 IU/mg.
Alternate Names ETGF; EGF-like TGF; TFGA; Protransforming growth factor alpha; TGF-alpha; TGF type 1

Properties

Form Powder
Purification Note Endotoxin level is <0.1 EU/µg of the protein, as determined by the LAL test.
Purity >98% (by SDS-PAGE)
Buffer PBS (pH 8.0)
Reconstitution It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile water to a concentration not <200 μg/mL and incubate the stock solution for at least 20 min at room temperature to make sure the protein is dissolved completely.
Storage Instruction For long term, lyophilized protein should be stored at -20°C or -80°C. After reconstitution, aliquot and store at -20°C or -80°C for up to one month. Storage in frost free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Suggest spin the vial prior to opening.
Note For laboratory research only, not for drug, diagnostic or other use.

Bioinformation

Gene Symbol TGFA
Gene Full Name transforming growth factor, alpha
Background This gene encodes a growth factor that is a ligand for the epidermal growth factor receptor, which activates a signaling pathway for cell proliferation, differentiation and development. This protein may act as either a transmembrane-bound ligand or a soluble ligand. This gene has been associated with many types of cancers, and it may also be involved in some cases of cleft lip/palate. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
Function TGF alpha is a mitogenic polypeptide that is able to bind to the EGF receptor/EGFR and to act synergistically with TGF beta to promote anchorage-independent cell proliferation in soft agar. [UniProt]
Cellular Localization Transforming growth factor alpha: Secreted, extracellular space. Protransforming growth factor alpha: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. [UniProt]
